The GPh is said to be the first pharmaceutical company to voluntarily recall an over-the-counter drug, Viagra, from a supermarket in the UK, following a report of an overdose in which the drug, which is marketed under the brand name Cialis, had an 'uncomfortable' effect on the body.
GPh Chief Executive Ian Read said: 'It is a very important drug to us, and we are working very closely with the GPh to ensure that this information is available to our customers.
'We are also working closely with the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and other regulatory bodies to ensure that we have the information we need in this area and to ensure that our product remains available in the market for patients using the drug for erectile dysfunction.
'We are taking this information very seriously and we are working with the MHRA to ensure that the information contained in this recall is accurate and up to date.’
